On the 13th of October 2015 there was a media release of some major changes to the NSW Energy Savings Scheme. This will affect the Energy Savings Certificates (ESCs) on all LED lighting upgrades, and it’s all good news. See below for the 3 major changes:
1. The energy savings target will rise from 5% to 7% in 2016, and 8.5% by 2019
2. Inclusion of Gas in the Energy Savings Scheme (ESS)
3. NSW Energy Savings Scheme (ESS) has been extended until 2025
For businesses, this is great news as the NSW government has put in measures to make it more affordable and more accessible to upgrade your existing halogen downlights, T8 fluorescent tubes, and any old inefficient lighting to LED energy efficient lighting.
Mr Speakman, Minister for Environment, Heritage and Assistant Minister for Planning said that
“Those actively participating in the Energy Savings Scheme would save more by making upgrades”.
