How to choose an Energy Consultant in Sydney – 2021

The task of embarking on the process of an LED Upgrade upgrade can be quite onerous, with so many suppliers, products, professionals and Energy Consultants offering their services throughout Sydney.

In 2021 lighting technology has advanced quite rapidly, particularly in the LED lighting space and you have many options to choose from.

How do you choose the right energy efficient products for your company? Where do you start in regard to design, supply and installation of LED lighting for your business or Strata residential building in Sydney, or throughout NSW?

Product – LED Lighting

There are many energy saving activities that you can introduce to your business, warehouse or residential Strata complex however installing LED lights is the first thing we recommend due to the smaller investment (compared to other energy saving activities such as Solar PV Systems) and the faster return on investment (ROI).

With the current NSW Energy Savings Scheme, you can receive large discounts on your LED lighting upgrade, and the discount is determined by how many Energy Saving Certificates (ESC) you can claim from the project. Each ESC has a monetary value and this value fluctuates. The more ESCs an energy saving project produces the higher the discount. The value of each ESC at any given time also effects your discount.

In 2021 the value of the ESC has remained quite high so it’s a great time to take advantage of the government incentive to undertake an LED Lighting upgrade and install energy efficient lights that will significantly reduce your electricity bills.

In regard to which LED products to choose, be sure to check that the lighting product being offered is approved under the NSW Energy Savings Scheme so that you can receive your ESC discount.

The space and existing lights effect how much of a discount you can receive. Undercover Carparks and Fire Stairs, for example in a Strata residential building are able to receive big discounts especially when the existing lights are old fluorescent tubes and contain twin 36W fittings.

By upgrading to a 17W LED fitting the wattage drops significantly and therefore increasing the number of ESCs you can claim, resulting in a large discount.

Be sure to check that the discount is offered at point of sale on your quote and that the discount is guaranteed. This is something we offer at Easily Green but is not common throughout the Energy Efficiency Industry. We guarantee your discount on your quote and take on the risk of the fluctuating ESC value. You do not need to fork out the large gross sum of money and then wait for your discount and risk any changes to your discount. We give you the discount upfront so that you only by the net amount for your LED lighting upgrade in Sydney and throughout NSW.

When considering which LED lighting product you should choose for your lighting upgrade, consider the application and which lights would be most suitable. We are independent certified Energy Consultants and recommend a number of brands and product types that are suitable and applicable to your particular function.

Check the warranty of the product, the number of hours it is rated to last, the specification sheet which will give you plenty of data, and the luminaires – how bright the LED light is.

Also consider the wattage of the lamp being offered, too high or too low can both be a problem as your main objective is to save energy therefore you don’t want a product with a wattage that is unnecessarily high or so low that there is not enough light illuminating the workspace or the Strata common areas, carpark or fire Stairs.

Under the NSW Energy Savings Scheme, it is a requirement that the LED lighting installed reaches the set AS1680 lux levels for each type of space so that adequate lighting levels are achieved.

As Energy Consultants, we design and recommend the lighting that is most suitable, and energy efficient for each application and area, while maintaining the required AS1680 lighting lux levels.
